Description
Veterans Hiking Program
The Veterans Hiking Program is designed to prepare adaptive and non-adaptive veterans to participate in guided hikes and outdoor community events in a supportive, team-based environment.
Participants will have access to monthly group hikes at parks and trail systems across the Atlanta area. Hikes are designed to accommodate a range of abilities and experience levels while promoting physical activity, confidence, and community connection.
Equipment & Participation
This program is open to veterans with visible or invisible disabilities, as well as non-adaptive veterans.
We are committed to reducing barriers to participation, including transportation, trail access concerns, and equipment needs. If you have questions or need support, please contact franz@catalystsports.org.
Hike Day Schedule
Friday

1500 - depart from bike shop (Altanta) you can carpool with me or meet up at the park

1900 – Check-in at location (TBD)

2000 - go over the schedule for the next day
Saturday

0700 – 1st Call and breakfast

0900 - step off - hike begins (please be ready to step off at this time)

1200 Lunch

1600 finish walk
-
1700 dinner

1800 AAR

Essential Eligibility for Veterans Hiking Participants
Participants must be able to:

Have veteran status

Wear appropriate footwear and required safety equipment

Understand and follow multi-step instructions independently
-
Navigate trails independently or with reasonable assistance
-
Walk, roll, or otherwise travel over trails appropriate to their experience and ability level
What to Bring

Water bottle

Snacks or food

Sunglasses or eye protection (if needed)

Closed-toe shoes or appropriate hiking footwear
-
Personal mobility or adaptive equipment (if used, if you need a Grit Chair we can provide it)

A can-do attitude!
