About the Trip
Catalyst Sports is partnering with Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) for an Adaptive Whitewater Raft Trip. The crystal-clear Nantahala River is the perfect family-friendly river where experienced river guides will help you navigate through splashy Class II-III rapids and bouncy waves, with occasional calmer waters where you can enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery.
NOC will be providing all needed gear and professional guides for the trip.
Join Catalyst Sports for an exhilarating Adaptive Whitewater Rafting Experience on the Nantahala River. We invite our adaptive athletes to bring a family member or friend, or come solo and paddle hard with our awesome volunteers.
Dry Land Training:

- 6:30pm at Charles D Owen Park in Asheville - 875 Warren Wilson Rd, Swannanoa
Dry Land Training will be held on July25 at 6:30pm Charles D Owen Park in Asheville (875 Warren Wilson Rd, Swannanoa). Participants will have an opportunity to try on the gear and volunteers and staff will be on hand to outfit the rafts to fit individuals specific needs. Attendance is required. If you are unable to attend the dry land training date, please contact asheville@catalystsports.org to discuss potential alternatives.

Age: The trip is open to participants ages 7 and up who meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria. Youth under 18 must have an adult caregiver/companion attend for the duration of the trip.
ACA Essential Eligibility Criteria for Adaptive Kayaking

Paddler should be able to breathe independently (i.e., not require medical devices to sustain breathing)

Paddler can maintain sealed airway passages while under water

Paddler can hold head upright without neck / head support

Paddler can manage personal care independently or with assistance from a companion

Paddler can manage personal mobility independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance

Paddler can follow instructions and effectively communicate independently or with assistance from a companion
- Volunteers should be comfortable in moving water
