GSMNP Overnight Camping- Participant Registration

Registration for participants of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park hike and backcountry camping trip, May 3-4, 2025. This intermediate hike will go along Cooper Rd Trail and we will stay at backcountry campsite #1.

Please Note: This will be a primitive camping experience. Meals (dinner and breakfast) will be provided. There will be a private, acessible commode available at the campsite. Camping equipment is available to borrow or you may bring your own, and volunteers will be available to help carry camping equipment in/out. 

In order to maintain safety and provide a positive experience for all participants, we require campers to meet the following Essential Eligibility Criteria:

• Breathe independently (i.e., not require medical devices to sustain breathing)
• Independently hold head upright without neck / head support
• Manage personal care (including bathroom needs and medications) independently or with assistance of a companion (a portable commode will be available at the campsite)
• Manage personal mobility independently or with the assistance of a companion
• Follow instructions and effectively communicate independently or with assistance of a companion
• Hike one mile on unven terrain, using adaptive equipment/mobility devices as needed
